Tech4Kids Activity, 10 to 14 October 2022, International Science Festival, Portugal


SAM Tech4kids is part of the FIC.A Festival School programme in 2022.

The 2nd edition will take place between the 10th and 16th of October, in Oeiras (Portugal) in the Hub-ACT, an incubation center for creative industries. During 7 days, the Festival aims to inspire and capture the attention of children and adults, create new audiences for science and use the arts to communicate exciting science and technology.
In context, a specific activity was designed, the “TECH4KIDS – 3D Printing, an environmentally friendly technology” activity, which intends to introduce the school public (from preschool to secondary education) to the characteristics, advantages and potential of 3D printing, in particular regarding to its use to create new parts from recycled raw materials or used products.
During the five days activity, starting on Monday (10th October) to Friday (14th October) visitors will get to know what the 3D printing process consists of, they will be able to explore different materials, as well as contact with different printers and print parts.
In a playful way, visitors will go through several stations where the interaction with technology will be facilitated. At the same time, in the most exhibition space, there will be informative material “posters”, showcases of pieces, digital comics, videos and also “quizz” developed specifically to sensitize the young audience (www.skills4am.eu).
For example, the game “SAM The Beaver” and the various “Comic Series” will guarantee the participantes involvement.
